A pool alarm that can tell a toddler from the wind.
Edgewater sits at the edge of your pool. It sounds a siren within a second of anything going in, then uses a camera to decide whether to wake up every phone in the house.
In development. Free test installs in San Diego start in early 2027.
77% of toddlers who drowned in home pools had been out of sight for five minutes or less.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission study of toddler pool drownings in Arizona, California and Florida.
The leading cause of deathfor U.S. children ages 1 to 4 is drowning.
About 376 children a yearunder 15 drowned in pools or spas from 2021 to 2023. Nearly 80% were under five.
69% weren't expectedto be at the pool at all. They slipped out a door nobody was watching.
What happens in the first three seconds
One weatherproof box at the pool's edge, with a sensor arm below the waterline and a small night-vision camera above it.
The water moves
The sensor arm feels the push of water when something heavy goes in. Wind and rain ripple the surface but barely move the water underneath.
The siren goes off
A 110-decibel siren and a flashing light, right at the pool. It runs on the box itself, so it works with the Wi-Fi down.
The camera checks
If it's a child, a pet, or it can't tell, every phone in the house gets an alert. If it's clearly a toy, leaves or the pool cleaner, the siren stops.
When in doubt, it alarms. The camera can only switch the siren off when it's sure.
The full walkthroughBuilt around why pool alarms fail families
Drowning is fast and silent
A toddler slips out the back door and nobody hears a thing. Edgewater is loud in under a second, and doesn't depend on an app, a camera or the internet to make noise.
Alarms cry wolf, so people unplug them
Floating alarms go off for wind, rain, toys and pool cleaners. A disarmed alarm protects no one. Our camera filters those out, so your phone only buzzes when it matters.
Nobody knows if the alarm still works
Dead batteries and failed sensors go unnoticed until the day it counts. Every morning the app tells you it's armed, charged and passed its self-test.
